Find out why the video failed.
ViuPace opens one underperforming video the way an investigator opens a flight recorder. It finds the second viewers left, reads what was being said when they did, and tells you what to change — instead of handing you another dashboard to interpret.
- Reads the retention curve against the transcript, second by second.
- Separate checkpoints and thresholds for long-form and for Shorts.
- Every finding closes on one thing to change before the next upload.
What one report actually says
Below is every exhibit from a real diagnostic, run on a 14-minute workshop build that got 18,420 views against a channel average of 41,000. Same numbers, same order, same wording you would see on your own video.
Did the opening hold?
The first check is the one most tools get wrong by applying a single rule to every video. A long-form video is measured on the first 30 seconds; a Short is measured on the first 3 to 5, because a swipe is a faster decision than a back button.
When the opening passes, ViuPace says so and stops recommending an intro rewrite. Being told your hook is fine is the finding.
Where did viewers leave, and what was being said?
Retention is read at multiple checkpoints and every drop is aligned to the transcript at that exact second, so a drop stops being a dip in a chart and becomes a named cause: 90 seconds of backstory, a slow tool change, a claim with no number attached.
The reverse works too. Rewatched segments are the only unambiguous signal of what your audience wants more of, and there is usually just one in a 14-minute video.
The pattern: viewers rewatch the moment a claim becomes a number they can see. That happens once in 14 minutes, and 35.4% of viewers were still there for it.
Was the video even shown to people?
High impressions with a low click rate is a different failure from low impressions, and it needs a different fix. One is packaging, the other is the video. Separating them is the whole point of this check, because rewriting a title cannot save a video nobody was offered.
What should the packaging have been?
This runs only when the previous check pinned the failure on the title and thumbnail. It writes three replacements with the reasoning behind each, names the one to try first, and tells you to change nothing else for two weeks so the result stays readable.
I Rebuilt My Entire Workshop for $900
- 01The $900 Workshop (Everything Is Plywood)Leads with the price, then says what made it possible.
- 02I Built a Whole Workshop for the Price of One Table SawCompares the price to something viewers already know the cost of.
- 03$900 Workshop: Flat to Half a MillimetrePuts the price next to the measurement viewers rewatched.
Do this: use title 1 with the finished-bench thumbnail, and change nothing else for 14 days. If you change several things at once you will not know which one worked.
What did your video that worked do differently?
The comparison is against your own best video in the same subject, long-form against long-form and Shorts against Shorts. Not a category benchmark, not a competitor, because you already proved what works on your channel once.
Compared against “Every Jig I Use, Built in One Weekend”, the best-performing video on this channel in the same subject.
Which searches were you missing?
The terms bringing viewers in are matched against the three fields you control. Anything arriving from a phrase that appears nowhere in your title, description, or tags is reach you got by accident and can get on purpose next time.

Four steps, about ten minutes
Analysis is derived from API metrics, retention curves, and transcripts. No frames are processed and no footage leaves YouTube.
- Step 01
Connect the channel
Read-only access to the YouTube Data and Analytics APIs. ViuPace never posts, never edits metadata, and never uploads.
- Step 02
Pick the video that disappointed you
One video per report. Long-form or Shorts — the content type sets which checkpoints and thresholds apply from here on.
- Step 03
Read the findings in order
Retention, packaging, and structure, each with the measurement, the threshold it was judged against, and the transcript line at that timestamp.
- Step 04
Change one thing
Each finding ends in a single instruction. Change one thing per upload and you can tell what moved the number.
What is in scope, and what is not
A report is only worth reading if you know what the instrument can see. Here is the whole boundary.
What ViuPace does
- Reads one video per report, long-form or Shorts, with the checkpoints and thresholds that match the format.
- Aligns every retention drop and rewatch to the transcript line at that second.
- Separates a packaging failure from a distribution failure before recommending a title change.
- Compares against your own best video in the same subject, not a category benchmark.
- Checks your title, description, and tags against the search terms viewers actually arrived on.
- Ends each finding with one instruction, so the next upload tests one change.
What ViuPace does not do
- Look at your footage. Analysis runs on API metrics, retention curves, and transcripts only — no frames are processed and nothing leaves YouTube.
- Write or publish anything. Access is read-only: ViuPace never posts, never edits metadata, never uploads.
- Score your channel. There is no grade, no health number, no leaderboard.
- Predict views. It explains a video that already ran; it does not forecast one that has not.
- Track other creators' private data. Comparisons use your channel and publicly available context.
Priced by the report
One video per report, whatever the plan. Cancel whenever — unused reports do not roll over, so the smaller plan is usually the right one to start on.
